This sculpture is the most photographed attraction in Chicago. It was designed by Anish Kapoor and took over 2 years to construct. Kapoor was inspired by liquid mercury and the sculptures surface reflects and distorts the city skyline. Made up of 168 stainless steel plates welded together, its highly polished exterior has no visible seams. Before it was completed, the sculpture was referred to as "The Bean" (something that designer thought was completely stupid)... it was later officially named Cloud Gate.
