Color, Reflections, & Light
Sometimes, those 3 little elements (color, reflections, & light) can come together in just right way. This photo was taken right as the sun had dipped below the horizon. The tide was very low and there was a bit of swell in the water. As shadows slowly crept in, there was a faint glow on the surface of the wet sand.
My Fijian Adventure - Surf Transfers
One of the daily adventures in Fiji was trying to hire a boat to take me out to the outer reefs. Since I was the only surfer in my group (parents don't surf), I had to find others to share the boat with me (the boat drivers didn't want to do solo trips unless you paid double). It wasn't too difficult to find others since there were a lot of Aussie surfers at the resort. However, all of the boats were on "Fiji time"... which meant that you needed to reserve a time 30-60 minutes before you actually wanted to go out. After the first couple days, I figured out the schedule and it wasn't much of a problem. The boat drivers were very friendly (had the warm polynesian hospitality)... they took us wherever wanted to go and stayed out as long as we wanted to stay out. They also had a lot of local knowledge and knew which break would be the best at any given moment. It was definitely worth the money!
Here you see a surfer coming back from one of the surf transfers at low tide.

Low Tide Sunset - HB
This photo is best viewed at a larger size (suggest clicking on it directly). Low tide sunset at Huntington Beach.
Golden Hour - HB Pier
I've posted several images already of the HB pier... so I assume that it's getting a bit redundant. Therefore, I promise that this will be the last one. I'm going to refer to this image as "Golden Hour". Right as the sun is about to dip below the horizon, the entire sky will glow a golden color. This actually can be slightly enhanced in California because of the smog/haze. The light reflects off of the smog and increases the glowing effect.
Pier Reflections
I'm always glad when a sunset takes place at low tide. It makes any image you take much more interesting because you get really cool reflections from the wet sand. This particular image was taken at Huntington Beach Pier towards the end of the day. The surf was quite good this afternoon... so I almost didn't come out of the water in time to gather my camera. However, the spot I was surfing worked better on high tide and was starting to shut down. Anyways, I thought these were pretty rad images.
