When in Hong Kong...

I'm not really a fan of umbrellas... however, in Hong Kong, the umbrella is part of the culture... and during the summer months, it becomes a necessity. You just have to be careful and protect your eyes when walking through tight alleyways. In the top photo, I was taking shelter under a bamboo scaffolding during the midst of a brief downpour (I forgot my umbrella and didn't want to buy another one... umbrella prices skyrocket when it is raining). I was probably getting in everyone's way, but found a good vantage point to take some photos of the bottleneck that was created when people tried to squeeze into the small space.

Sunset at Hammonds

I wanted to see a bit of sunshine this evening (rainy day in Santa Barbara)... so I decided to look through some photos I took while at Hammonds Beach a few weeks ago. This particular day was also a bit stormy. However, the clouds cleared a few hours before the sun went down and it made for a beautiful sunset. These photos were taken after I had just finished a surf session. There was a cold/gusty breeze blowing and my toes were numb. However, I decided to stick around for a moments as the sun dipped below the skyline. My car's heater felt awesome as I drove back home.

Pier Reflections

I'm always glad when a sunset takes place at low tide. It makes any image you take much more interesting because you get really cool reflections from the wet sand. This particular image was taken at Huntington Beach Pier towards the end of the day. The surf was quite good this afternoon... so I almost didn't come out of the water in time to gather my camera. However, the spot I was surfing worked better on high tide and was starting to shut down. Anyways, I thought these were pretty rad images.

Under the Pier

When I lived in Newport Beach, I used to surf next to the Huntington Beach pier about 3-5 times per week (one of the best & most consistent surf spots in Orange County!)... and never really had that much appreciation for it. However, after being away from it for 3+ years, I've learned to appreciate its uniqueness again. Here I am standing under the pier at sunset. What you don't see are the 30 other photographers with Digital SLR cameras and tripods surrounding me.

Tilted Reflection

As I was walking down the pathway to JFK Park in Harvard Square, I took this image of a puddle. I really liked the color and the reflection. Photo taken in late November. If I recall correctly, it was actually quite warm out today. If this puddle was still here today, it would be pure ice.

Reflections and Water

Was trying to play with the shadows and create a "moody" feel for this picture. I like how it came out. This particular picture was taken back in November towards the end of the fall season. The John W Weeks Footbridge is in the background (construction had just started).

The Prudential Glows

A late afternoon around Fenway. I looked up and there was this big ray of light reflecting against the Prudential Building. I thought it was pretty cool.
(photo taken a few weeks ago)

Reflections and Color

Reflections and color... hard to believe that I took this photo at a spot in the middle of the city of Boston.

Reflections & Puddles

After a heavy rain storm, puddles form wherever there is an indentation in the concrete (which happens to be quite a few places in Boston). Usually, these puddles are a nuisance... however, during the fall time, they can turn into a work of art (if you look at them a certain way). The mixture of the fallen leaves, reflections, and colors make for a beautiful image. These are a few puddles I found walking around Harvard Square.

View From the Skies

Looking down on the Everglades from the comfort of seat 6A on American Airlines. I was on en route to MIA (from SAL). I didn't realize how large the Everglades actually were.

Salvadorian Sunset

Tonight's sunset at Las Flores. Believe it or not, this was actually the worst sunset since I've been staying here (the other days I was too busy surfing to get a camera)... it was still pretty incredible though.
