Footprints In the Sand...
There is an ancient Greek saying that "the sea can wash away all evils"... and a wide range of cultures have sacralized the sea, trusting in its power to wash away what is dangerous, dirty, and morally contaminating. The sea makes life on land possible by keeping it "pure." In this particular photo, footprints are in the process of slowly washing away with the incoming tide. Shortly after, all traces that a couple walked by will have vanished from sight... only the memory remains.
Low Tide Sunset - HB
This photo is best viewed at a larger size (suggest clicking on it directly). Low tide sunset at Huntington Beach.
Beach Plants
For some reason, there are always interesting plants at the beach (that you don't see anywhere else). They seem to be a bit tougher and grittier than the normal plants. Here is one such example of a plant found on the beaches of Maine.
Beach Day - York, ME
I heard that there would be fun surf on Saturday... so decided to drive up to Maine for the day. The waves weren't as big as I had hoped (chest to head high). However, the weather was very nice for an early December day (upper 40s and sunny). Yes, the water is rather cold (in full wetsuit with gloves, hood, and booties)... but not quite as cold as it will be in January. I was actually kind of hot when I first got in.
The Prudential Glows
A late afternoon around Fenway. I looked up and there was this big ray of light reflecting against the Prudential Building. I thought it was pretty cool.

A Tree Illuminated
I was walking through the Boston Public Gardens on a beautiful fall day in the late afternoon. The sun was at a very low angle and it was illuminating a tree next to the pond. I thought that it really brought out the colors nicely.
The Gardens
This photo was taken during one of the last days of last warm days of the year. I went walking through the Boston Public Gardens and got this shot under the tree.
Falling Back to Boston
Had a lovely trip to Northern California... but now it's time to be back in New England and enjoy the fall season. Leaves in the process of changing along the Charles River Esplanade.
The Hiding Sun
As I hide in the shade, the sun peaks out from behind the clouds... a brief moment of sun in an otherwise cloudy afternoon.
SpinningSpinningSpinning&Spinning
There's a tree along the Charles River that has a branch sticking out over the river. It provides a nice area of shade during the summer months, but it kind of gives you a weird sense of the spins... especially if you look straight up. I tried to re-create that effect in this image.
Half and Half
Was playing around with some effects on these sunset pictures. I wanted to see what they would look like as a black and white photo. I thought the black and white image was a bit dull when compared to color... however, it had some characteristics and character that the color photo did not. In order to get the best of both worlds, I combined the two together. I think it made for an interesting image.
