More iPhone photography from along the banks of the Merrimack River. A beautiful/sunny day in Lawrence, MA... close to NB R&D center

August 27, 2010

I was rather surprised at how well this photo came out (since I took it with my iPhone). This picture was taken from Sal's restaurant in Lawrence, MA... along the Merrimack River (close to New Balance office). There are some very cool/old mill buildings in this area of the state... lots of manufacturing history.

ye olde Union Oyster House in Boston, MA. The oldest restaurant in the United States... good seafood/lobster and a must visit for any tourist.

Flowers along the wall in Portsmouth, NH... rad colors/textures in this image.

Walking along the waterfront in South Boston... definitely an up and coming area. I'm surprised it has taken so long for people to see its potential.

A bumbling bumble bee.

Interesting brick building in Lexington, MA.

Here is the mouth of my Tomb Belonging to the Home of John Osborne... pretty sure that's what it says. Very interesting textures on gravestone and colors in background.

Portland, ME waterfront area. I've always enjoyed taking trips up to Portland. It's a nice little city that's only a couple hours from Boston... good food, nice people, and a cool waterfront area.

Night shot from the heart of Bordeaux. Beautiful city, great restaurants, and AMAZING wine.

August 15, 2010

Photo taken from the top of Basilique du Sacré-Coure... looking down at the city of Paris. Amazing view!

August 14, 2010

Another B&W shot from Paris... this time of Eiffel Tower (on a cold/rainy day). The rain stopped for a bit and it looked like a hole opened in the sky above the tower.

August 13, 2010

Going back to Paris, this was a nighttime photo that I took while in Paris... looking back towards the Louvre.

August 12, 2010

Another double exposure... not sure if I like it or not (think something is missing?), but it's still kind of interesting. I combined a picture that I took in Bali and a picture from the 4th of July in Boston.

August 11, 2010

I started messing around with double exposures... These are two pictures that were taken on the same evening while in Bali. It was a beautiful sunset and a fisherman just happened to be cruising around on the beach.

Central Square in Cambridge, MA... This photo was taken late in the afternoon as the sun was starting to set. I really like how the sky is glowing in the background. The church also adds a very interesting contrast.

August 9, 2010

This image was taken near Union Square in Somerville, MA. I really thought these townhouses along the railroad tracks were interesting. The colors almost glow as the sun shines down on them. The rust colored fence post adds a bit of contract to the image.

Jumping over to the other side of the world, here is an image from New Zealand's north island. I was on my way for an early morning surf session (at Piha Beach)... and I was driving over the hills, I caught this view point from the corner of my eye. It was something that did not look real. If you look closely in the background, you will see the city of Auckland "peeking" out through the fog. It was truly breathtaking.

Another image from Costa Rica. This was a piece of driftwood that found its way to the crocodile infested rivermouth of Boca Barranca. If you look closely through the little hole, you can see the tip of the point (where I spent a lot of time surfing)

Another place I love to visit in Central America is Costa Rica- great surf, friendly people, interesting culture, good food, etc. On this particular trip, I stayed in a town called Puntarenas. The town wasn't anything special... but it just happened to be next to the 2nd longest left hand point break in the Americas. It was amazing. My only complaint would be the crocodiles in the water. This photo was taken after a rain storm one evening... just happened to catch the sun at the right angle so it was reflecting off the water.

August 5, 2010

This photo was taken during a surf trip deep in southern Mexico (just south of Bahias de Huatulco). I was on my way for an early surf session... and as I was driving on the windy dirt roads, I noticed the sun starting to rise. I stopped at a random beach and watched in amazement... almost didn't seem real.

One rather exotic locale that surfing has brought me to is Nicaragua. We stayed at a former presidential palace turned luxury resort at Playa Montelimar. I had the entire beach to myself for a week (surfed alone). Never even saw anyone else even go into the water. It was nice at first, but then the waves started getting rather big (10-15ft+)... and I kind of wished someone was out in the water with me. Anyways, this photo shows one of many spectacular sunsets that I saw while at the resort.

My love of surfing has brought me to many interesting/exotic places. Biarritz is one of those places. Although, not too exotic... it's definitely interesting. This is an image of the lighthouse on the tip of La Grande Plage (which has some amazing surf below). Like anywhere in France, the food was also amazing.

August 2, 2010

Staying on the "European River Theme", this image was taken along the Garonne River in Bordeaux. I really wish I spent more time in Bordeaux during my trip to France (only there 2 nights). It's an amazing city... Beautiful scenery, interesting museums, great food, INCREDIBLE wine, and very nice weather. One of the great things about being in Europe, is that there is no open container law... so you are free to drink wherever you want. After dinner this evening, I just bought a bottle of wine and hung out with my dad as the sun went down.

August 1, 2010

Another famous river in Europe... this image was taken in Paris along the banks of the Seine at 10pm at night (after an amazing dinner). It was amazing how late the sun stayed out during this time of year. I was right next to the Louvre  when I took this shot and you can see the Grand Palais des Champs-Elysées in the background. I was just walking back to my hotel room and noticed the sky lighting up... lucky I had a camera with me.
