You're looking at my lunch/dinner for the last 3 days. I love sushi... and the best place in the world to get it is Japan. Yesterday, I had an epic meal at a place called Sushi no Midori Sohonten (in Shibuya). This place seats about 30 people and has a line that can take upwards of 2 hours. Lucky for me, I was dining solo... and was able to sneak in a spot at the sushi bar. I felt weird taking a picture of my food, but pretty much everyone around me was doing it... so I thought I would fit in. So good!!

The most insane crossing walk in the world... in Shibuya. Here's a different angle of it shot from the street view. I love the glowing neon lights in background.

Photo taken from inside the #1 grossing Starbucks in the world... which is in Shibuya (Tokyo). I sat up here for a while watching the mad scene of people and cars scrambling through the intersection... it was rather hypnotic. Not too sure what 'KOC' stands for though (it was tattooed on the window in front of me).

Watching a beautiful sunrise from the comforts of seat 6A on American Airlines. The city of Chicago is in the background.

Nice start to my Japan trip...

Color, light, and shadows...

A lovely (but cold) morning in Harvard Square... walking through Harvard Yard en route to my car.

Now Winter Nights Enlarge.

Now winter nights enlarge
 This number of their hours;
And clouds their storms discharge
 Upon the airy towers.
Let now the chimneys blaze
 And cups o'erflow with wine,
Let well-tuned words amaze
 With harmony divine...

This time doth well dispense
 With lovers' long discourse;
Much speech hath some defense,
 Though beauty no remorse.
All do not all things well:
 Some measures comely tread,
Some knotted riddles tell,
 Some poems smoothly read.
The summer hath his joys,
 And winter his delights;
Though love and all his pleasures are but toys
 They shorten tedious nights.

Deep freeze.

For some reason, I thought it would be fun to take a stroll through a park during the middle of a Nor'easter. The snow was falling so hard that it was quite difficult to take a picture. I found shelter under a tree... and quickly got this shot. Thinking back, it probably wasn't such a good idea to take shelter under any tree that day... given all the fallen branches I saw the next day (from the weight of the heavy snow). It certainly was a winter wonderland.

Beach scene at Jennes Beach (in New Hampshire).

Taking a break from the winter photos... Looking down at Anse Marcel on the French side of Sint Maarten. I had a spectacular view of the bay from on top of this mountain. In the bottom/center of the photo, you can see the Radisson hotel that I stayed in (great location... not such a great hotel)... and in the background, you can see a faint outline of the island of Anguilla. Sint Maarten is a very beautiful island.

Illuminated tree frozen in place. Walking down Mass Ave (in Harvard Square) after our recent snowstorm was a breathtaking site. Everything looked like one of those Christmas villages you see in cartoons and movies... piles of snow everywhere, colorful lights, and people bundled up in winter gear. Yes, it was a pain in the ass to drive anywhere, but everything looked very pretty.

Lonely trail at John F Kennedy Park in Harvard Square... looking towards Memorial Drive and the Charles River.

A classy winter time view of a little park in Harvard Square.

Snowy entrance gate to the John F Kennedy park in Harvard Square. Photo taken during our second Nor'easter of the winter season.

A post-storm view of the New Balance R&D center in Lawrence, MA. Photo taken right as the sun was about to vanish. Love the combination of lights, colors, textures, and shadows.

Also, that person with the wagon should have cleaned the snow off the top of their car... dangerous if you're driving on the freeway (chunks of ice can come off!!).

Nighttime at the Square. Image taken as I was walking home from my car. The street lights reflect nicely against the freshly fallen snow and cause everything to be a bit brighter. The trees almost look fake with snow frozen onto their branches. I also like the corner building in the background with lime green trim.

Lonely pine tree... bent from the weight of snow on top of it. I love how pure white the freshly fallen snow is in the foreground.

January 14, 2011

A winter wonderland at Harvard Square. This picture reminds me of one of those toy villages that you put together during Christmas... very pretty with the snow and lights.

I took this image right after the Nor'easter started diminishing... still not too many people out in the streets.

Lonely park bench along the banks of the Charles River.

Image taken during the midst of yesterday's Nor'easter.

Girl in the red jacket.

Our second Nor'easter of the 2010-2011 Winter season. During the midst of it, I decided to take a little walk around my neighborhood in Harvard Square. It's a pain in the ass if you have to shovel or drive anywhere... but it certainly is beautiful.

January 11, 2011

Snowy day at the New Balance R&D center in Lawrence, MA. I really dislike cold weather and having to deal with snow (when commuting)... however, it certainly looks pretty (good for snowboarding as well). Love the old school mill building... and clock tower in background.

January 10, 2011

Snowy morning in Boston. Thought the red berries on this tree were a cool contrast to the pure/white snow.

January 8, 2011

A strangely unique fence I saw along the road in Sint Maarten. There's 5 different sections that were cobbled together in this specific area. I really like the combinations of colors... beautiful blue sky against a bright green hill... and rusted old barded wire in the foreground.

Beautiful view of the Back Bay during the fall. On the Charles River side of Storrow Dr.
