Fireworks Abstract

I almost deleted these photos immediately after I took them. The first two were taken without a tripod and the third one was taken by accident as my camera was facing up. I'm glad I didn't delete them though... because when I viewed them on my computer, I thought they were pretty cool. Everyone always sees fireworks in perfect focus... or with the long exposure lines. However, the fact that these came out blurred made them more interesting to me.

The top one looks like little birds flying to a red flower. The second one looks like a hundred little fishing rods getting dipped into a black sea... and the third one reminded me of a abstract sunset painting (really liked the gradient effect). Hope you enjoy!

Sci-Fi Sunset

To me, this picture resembles a scene from a sci-fi movie... the barren tree branch resembles a claw of some alien creature that's coming to attack me. I chose to focus on the end of the branch and the sharp points. In the background was a beautiful sunset.

This photo was taken at JFK Park in Cambridge (next to Harvard).

Autumn Abstract

I was walking through the park and was surround by amazing colors. Instead of taking a standard/crisp photograph, I decided to try and create an abstract image by adding a motion blur. I think it came out pretty interesting.

Blurs of Life III

For this series of images, I wanted to remove clearly defined shapes and just focus on the colors that remained. I really liked how the bright/vibrant colors jumped out. It creates a somewhat peaceful atmosphere.

This is an image I took during my last trip to Tokyo (at the "Shibuya Scramble"). I sliced up the image into several pieces... and separated them into different "scenes". It kind of makes you focus on each piece of the photo individually and you notice things that you ordinarily would not have. I thought it came out pretty interesting. I also emphasized each scene by accenting it with a colored filter.

Abstract shot taken next to my apartment in Harvard Square. I thought the wires mixed in with blue sky, white clouds, and the corner of a building make for an interesting composition.

Abstract shot of some tree tops... never thought a tree could be so cool.

Abstract photo taken inside Reunification Palace in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).

It was really interesting to go to Vietnam and see a different perspective on the Vietnam War (a perspective that was not present in my High School textbooks). Obviously, they portrayed the United State's involvement in a negative way... but weren't "anti-American" in how they did it (some of the war exhibits were actually sponsored by US companies).
